Crankworx Whistler 2009!

August 15, 2009

Kokanee Crankworx is one of the world’s premier mountain bike festivals for all things gravity fueled. Held every year at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Crankworx attracts the world’s top freeride and downhill athletes.

Downhill events include the Air DH (where riders race down the iconic A-Line freeride/downhill trail), the Garbanzo DH (an epic 15 minute downhill race that covers 3,400 vertical feet of some of the best trails in the world), and two dual slalom events on two different slalom courses.

Not forgetting Trialsworx, a BikeTrial comp that takes place in the middle of the Whistler Village. The Baia brothers and Ryan Leech are also doing demos this year.

Last but not least, the highlight of the festival, the infamous slopestyle contest where freeride legends are born and crowned. The slopestyle draws the largest crowds and you’ll get to see some of the most progressive riding ever. If I’m not wrong Crankworx held the first ever slopestyle contest back in 2004, and it just started a revolution in mountain biking.

Anyways there are quite a number of Crankworx 2009 videos popping up all over the net so here are some for you guys to enjoy. I’ll add more later.
