Orbea Rallon – Spanish.

December 27, 2010

Something that’s worth a highlight in the seas of standard off the shelve brands- Orbea Rallon.

We were lucky to have a few quick look, a short test ride around the neighbourhood with the Rallon 10 and 30 freshly out of the box. Not exactly fully assembled with little odds and ends to be tidy up when it heads back to the workshop.

The suspension linkage on this gem is named “Lambda Link”, which is designed using Orbea’s Advanced Dynamics which are very sensitive on small bump and a very linear mid-stroke but hardens up towards the end stroke to prevent bottom up or suspension damages. Pedal efficiency may be lost but the plush ness and be enjoyed tremendously and rebound knob comes into play to keep things on track.

They have in variation with models like Rallon 10, 30 and 50. Difference is the components that come with the complete bike. Be it Shimano Deore, Shimano XT 10 speed or Sram XO with Truvative Hammerschimdt crank set. How ever different the components, all frames come with a standard Hammerschimdt compatible mount, a nice paint job, life time warranty and a “Made In Spain” Decal proudly attached to the top of the seat tube, made out of hydro formed Tricone aluminum. Of cause, customers in Europe, U.S. and Asia may all end up with different spec and colors. Here’s what we get on our shores.

Orbea Rallon 30 – Black/Brown – 150mm All mountain- Cross Country Spec.

Fast and nimble. Feels relatively lightweight in its class ( around 12-12.5kg). Easy to maneuver around and with the 3×10 speed Shimano XT with a 12-36T cassette on the rear, we’re sure you will not be suffering when it comes to long up hills or simple single track rides. Not a bad idea for riders crossing over from the hard tail side of off road riding, or for weekend warriors who just wants to have a “cushion-ed” ride around our local trails.

Orbea Rallon 10 – Black/ white- 160mm All mountain Enduro.

Slack head tube angle due to the 10mm additional travel up on the front.

Equipped with the Truvative Hammerschimdt crank set on the front that shifts like lightning. This bike will be fast flowing trails with small drops and brumes.

Feels like a fast and fun bike with seat lowering capabilities with the aid if RockShox’s Reverb Seat post with has yet to reach our After market shelves.

We recon this bike should have some high speed stability on the descends from the feel of the slack head tube angle. But a pair of Fomula The one brakes keeps both the speed and any uneccessary excess weight down to minimum.

Talking about weight, this model is a little front heavy due to the Fox36 Talas on the front. Otherwise a very well balance bike. Looks better and well packaged compared to the Rallon 30.
