Niner Rohloff “ed”

March 26, 2011

Wanted a more reliable and upgrade from its previous set up with Shimano XT 9 speed group set, Andrew consulted us on enhancing his gear rations and upgrade possibilities for his Niner.

Straight away we thought of and discussed on the latest 10 speed group sets and went through some of the common brands that’s readily available in the market with established reputation for reliability and eventually found nothing really concrete base on the traditional “derailleurs and shifters” systems at this moment for 10 speed group sets as they are still pretty new.

Then Andrew hop on to one of our Nicolai display bikes that’s equipped with a and immediately decided on it! What we found out later that this was not a “crush” or “love at first sight” but rather, an ” always wanted ” to have a better understanding on its pros and cons. And was eventually sold by the characteristic of this German internal gear hub.

The Rohloff definitely require some time of getting use to but as this post is being churned out , Andrew had probably already done a dozen of familiarizing ride by now…

Big thanks to Walton for putting it together! It works like an absolute dream, especially in horrible, wet conditions. It’s likely the last drivetrain I’ll ever buy!
