WorldCat 26″ – Awfully Lightness @8.75kg

March 29, 2011

Glad to receive some new Worldcat parts like this WorldCat 26″ Trials frame, a matching fork and a new Carbon bar from WorldCat Factory for testing and review. They have already been produced and they do come in 20″ frames and forks as well!

We quickly have it build up and and a few test rides so far. Its feels really light and easy to maneuver, something which is very important in the sport of BikeTrial.

The New Carbon Handle Bar named “Control”, omits the flex from your usual alloy bars but able to retain the length and angles with the help of the carbon material used. The finishing, similar to mountain bike carbon bars like Easton and RaceFace give you great confidence and changes our thoughts about using carbon bars for trials.

And also, besides that this surprisingly stiff frame that features some really nice CNC parts, huge fish scale weldings that you only find on Hand made frame – we are sure this one is! – Its also matched with a very unique fork.

It is made in such way that the flex from the front fork is exactly adequate against the needed stiffness for trials application. Its superb finishing isn’t suppressed by the frame it was build for. In fact, it complements it so well we find this the next best thing to a Monty 231 Kamel.

The rear dropout and tension systems are similar and common in the trial bike scene. This also give flexibility to the owners when it comes to a choice of hubs and the nail cams systems which originally started by Monty.

To sum things up we find this bike rather similar with the new Monty Kamel 231. Only that this is lighter at 8.75kg and a slightly higher bottom bracket height. It sure requires a skillful and experience trials rider to bring out and fully utilize the good of this frame but its also a very affordable and reliable competition frame that you can see through series of competitions.
